One of th3e most anticipated sequels of the year has finally arrived on the big screen, and boy, does it live up to the hype it generated! Don’t miss out on “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”. The movie, based on the second book in Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games Trilogy, is a 2013 science fiction adventure film directed by Francis Lawrence, with a screenplay by Simon Beaufoy and Michael Arndt (credited as Michael deBruyn). If you have seen the first film and have any interest in this series, then this thrilling, suspenseful and dramatic adventure is one you do not want to miss out on!

After their victory in the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark must now cope with their new life after the horrors they faced in the games, and also carry out their duties as the new victors. However, it seems that the notorious leader of Panem, President Snow, is all but pleased with their actions in the games, and with the sparks of rebellion showing in the districts, Katniss is forced to face a greater danger than she could ever have imagined.

The visuals in the movie are gorgeous, with a great use of camera angles and fantastic imagery to keep your eyes hooked to the screen. The directing of the movie is wonderful! Every scene and event is given exactly the right amount of time and nothing feels too dragged out or rushed, which is quite an achievement, considering this is a movie based on a rather long book. The script is well done, with memorable and quotable lines that stick out throughout the film. The soundtrack is fantastic, each piece really helps to build up the particular atmospheres of each scene in the movie, drawing out the viewers’ emotions skillfully whether they are suspense, thrill or sadness. To top it off, the movie’s actors truly shine in their performance, bringing out every aspect of their character skillfully. Jennifer Lawrence is especially fantastic in her role as Katniss Everdeen, managing to portray her character so well you could almost believe her to be real. In short, the production of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is of the greatest quality, something that really shows in its execution, and should not be missed by anyone with even the slightest interest in the series.
In short: If you’re a fan of the Hunger Games series, or if you’ve watched the first movie and have some interest in the franchise, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a must-watch. It’s action-packed, suspenseful, thrilling, beautiful and horrifying at the same time. You are sure to be hooked, at the edge of your seat and with your eyes glued to the screen until the credits roll! If you’ve got friends or family members who also have some interest in The Hunger Games, it is a great movie to watch with someone and share the experience. Due to the nature of the story, the events and imagery in the film, it is not suitable for children. However, if you’re at an appropriate age and know what you’re getting into, then don’t pass this movie up! It is one of the greatest movie experiences of 2013, and sure to stay with you long after the credits roll.
